Live Earth

There is no doubt that the Live Earth concerts are a good thing. Global warming needs all the attention it can get. We all need to take action and make sacrifices.

However, is it just me who has to ask…

Yo, celebrities!

How many houses do you own?

Do they really need to be so big?

How many bathrooms ya got?

And how about central air conditioning?

Swimming pools?

How many cars ya got?

How many are SUVs?

Do you recycle? Seriously, I wanna know!

What about all those fancy clothes? They need to be dry-cleaned, don’t they?

You change your regular clothes a lot too, that’s a lot of laundry!

Got a private jet…or two?

How much bottled water do you drink?

Apart from entertaining us all, making us feel good about ourselves, and that we are part of something important
I’d like to know what YOU are gonna give up.

Ok, so I’m not alone in my thoughts, I’m glad! I still wanna know the answers to those questions though.

Welcome to the world baby Alistair

Wheeeeeeeeeeee, I’m an auntie again!

Alistair Andrew was born on March 25 weighing in at 7 lbs, 9 oz.

SIL had a great, non-medicated delivery and went home that night.

My mum is flying out to Vancouver tomorrow to help out for a few weeks, and we will get to meet Alistair in August - can’t wait!

This has been the happiest and hardest, the longest and shortest year of my life.

And it was all worth it.

Happy Birthday darling boy!

Pictures of eating, drinking, and celebrating can be found in the next couple of days on weeble garage.

Thanks to all who shared in the merriment.

My oh-so-”traditional” marriage is still happy, thriving and meaningful.

Rockin’ good time chez him and her on Saturday night.

Other Jen told me that the balls were Paul’s and that she didn’t have any, elbows were licked, and I admired John’s nuts.

Oh, and I’m a good guesser.

Now, don’t make me laugh. No, really, don’t.

Customer service

Does it exist anymore?

Delightful (non)customer service I’ve experienced in the last two months.

1. Canada Post online bills my credit card for something I didn’t purchase. I phoned them on August 29 and was told they’d look into it. I was given a reference number. Have I heard anything from them? No.

2. On Thanksgiving Monday, I went to L’Aubainerie to get some shoes for Aidan. They were out of his size, so I aked if they knew if their LaSalle location was open that day. I was told that they “thought so” but couldn’t say for sure. I asked if they would call the store to confirm that it was open before I drove all the way there. I was told they are not allowed to call that store becaue it’s long distance. I was not amused. I sent an email to customer service on October 9 relating my delightful experience. Have I heard anything back from them? No.

3. A week ago I called our bank to get some information about our mortgage as we were likely about to sell our house. I wasn’t able to speak to a real person, so I left a message on a machine that assured me that “messages are checked frequently during the day”. A week later, our house is sold and I have yet to hear back from anyone at the bank.

4. Today, I was at Wal-Mart and asked a clerk a question, he didn’t seem to know what I was talking about and his immediate response was “huh” in a tone that managed to convey both rudeness and the implication that I was stupid for asking the question.

5. Three weeks ago, I called the real estate agent that represents an apartment building where we are interested in renting. I wanted to know about availability. She said she’d call me back the following week. Have I heard from her? No.

Does anybody give a shit about service anymore?

James “Focus on your own damn family” Dobson wouldn’t approve.

Oh and speaking of James Dobson, now that we have a baby, I often find myself browsing the baby and parenting section of the library. There is a book in the section by the aformentioned asshole person. There is something wrong with that particular book, well, many things actually, but the thing that stands out the most is just how accident prone it is. Everytime I go to pull out a book I’m interested in, the James Dobson book falls behind the shelves.

Our um, thingie, you know, the thingie person wot hosted our blogs upped and did a runner. As we didn’t have a recent backup, we lost a bunch of posts.

No great loss for me or the three people who still read this blog, as I mostly write crap.

Anyway, we’re back up with a new hostie thingie and I may just write some stuff again.
