Lazy Sunday

This post over at The C.R.I.I.B. Blog made me pee.

Mark was less amused and made his cat-bum face.

Let him eat cake

Saturday night, 9:40 pm

Me: what are you doing?

Mark: making a cake.

Me: why?

Mark: because I want to.

Well, let’s not argue then.

Tiptoe through the tulips

Mark and I took this week off to do all the things we haven’t had time to do while working.

Unfortunately, both of us got sick with a yucky cold, and that cut into productive time.

I have managed however to plant about 30 tulip bulbs, 30 daffodil bulbs and some Icelandic poppies, Blue Butterfly Delphiniums and Brown-eyed Susans from seed. The bulbs should be fine, but I am a little worried about the seeds. I have about 30 more daffodil bulbs to plant tomorrow and that should be it for planting.

We have managed to achieve a few other little things on the to-do list, but have made very little headway on the other big thing on the list - my office. I would love to wake up tomorrow to find that the team from one of those organising shows has been in the night and worked their magic - without actually involving me.

Nothing to do tonight? Like trivia?

A very funny LOTR thing over at stupidevilbastard. Thanks, Les.

My favourites are 1, 6, 11, 13, 16, and 17.

Les also has a lot to say, and he says it well, check out the rest of his site

Do you write like a man or a woman?

I came across this over at cheeseorgy.

Apparently, about 80% of what I write is written like a man.

How about you?

You know, for kids.

And for big kids too.

Because our cable/internet bill wasn’t nearly high enough, we felt it necessary to get this.

Woo, high definition PVR! And surprisingly, fewer remotes.

My ugly mug

As part of my job, I do a lot of negotiating - our vendors have been known to quake in their boots.

So, how come when it comes to negotiating the purchase or lease of a new car I just suck?

In order to offset the fact that I have done a bad job with the important part of the negotiations, (ie the price) I do make one demand. I demand that the dealership GIVE me something.

What do I demand they give me?

Mugs. Yes, the things out of which you drink coffee and/or tea.

I have two Toyota mugs, two Nissan mugs and two Mazda mugs.

Go me!

I found this interesting:

Do men smell?

Apparently they don’t.

All too often, Mark brings me something from the fridge, shoves it under my nose and says, “does this smell ok to you?”

Yuck, Bush!

I’m a Canadian for Kerry.

It irks, irritates and it’s irrational!

What? The idea that letting homosexuals marry somehow degrades “traditional” marriage.

I’ll tell you what degrades the notion/concept/sanctity of marriage:

Britney Spears getting married in Vegas and seeking an annulment after 55 hours.

Nicky Hilton getting married in Vegas and seeking an annulment after two months.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey turning their marriage into a television show.

Two people who love each other and want to make a legal, socially accepted, government and/or church sanctioned commitment to each other should not be prevented - regardless of sex….damnit!

Anniversary update: I got one more card, for a total of seven. Mark presented me with the last card along with a cool paper-making kit (remember, the first anniversary is “paper”) when we were at McKibbins for the pubquiz.
Interestingly and fittingly, shortly afterwards, “Lost Together” came on the sound system. In three years of going to McKibbins, I have never heard them play anything by Blue Rodeo

Mark had a “What’s on my desk?” thingie on his blog the other day, I thought about doing one as well, however a) I have two desks in my office and b) better for me would have been, “What’s NOT on my desk?” I’ve got everything pretty much covered.

Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all you Canadians!

Lost Together

One year ago today, Mark and I got married.

Last night, my wonderful husband cooked me a delicious dinner of homemade soup and shrimp curry and rice. We drank champagne and ate the piece of wedding cake that’s been in our freezer for a year.

As the first anniversary is “paper”, Mark presented me with a gift certificate for a massage and six - count’em - six anniversary cards replete with thoughtful, romantic well-chosen words. I gave Mark two (I was outdone!) cards and a gift certifcate I made myself, which Mark quickly exchanged for the Star Wars Trilogy DVD set I just happened to have wrapped up in my office. We then retired to the drawing room (ok, the ugly tv room) to watch the original Manchurian Candidate.

Ah, bliss!
