My ugly mug
As part of my job, I do a lot of negotiating - our vendors have been known to quake in their boots.
So, how come when it comes to negotiating the purchase or lease of a new car I just suck?
In order to offset the fact that I have done a bad job with the important part of the negotiations, (ie the price) I do make one demand. I demand that the dealership GIVE me something.
What do I demand they give me?
Mugs. Yes, the things out of which you drink coffee and/or tea.
I have two Toyota mugs, two Nissan mugs and two Mazda mugs.

You know, that week or so of the month is usually the best time for negotionating cars. If they haven’t quite met their quota and you have decent enough credit. I know several store managers that (Including my own) have gone so far as to sell a new vehicle 400 dollars under invoice. But of course that isn’t where they make the money. on a 31,000 dollar car the actual commssion the salesperson (me) was only about 50 bucks. Which that of course goes against an hourly draw. The whole thing kinda sucked. Which is why I left.

I used to always get ripped off at car dealers. What I did this last time was applied at eloan.com for a car loan for $42,000. they approved me for $50,000, sent a blank check. I emailed every Nissan dealer within 50 miles letting them know what I wanted. Told them they get 1 chance to give me their best price. Actualy got a really low price and a free DVD system (told the dealer that another dealer had same car, same price, but theirs had DVD).

Mugs are better than nothing. Car dealers tend to only GIVE me a headache!!
