I’ve got the music in me…well, near me anyway

Since it was so much fun the first time, let’s do it again.

Step 1: I put my media player on random. [Well, kinda]
Step 2: I picked a line from the first 20 songs that played.
Step 3: I am posting the lines here for your guessing pleasure. Song title and artist please.
Step 4: I will cross out the songs as they are guessed correctly.

Yeah, yeah, we all know how to Google, but let’s not. *Looks sternly at Paul* ;)

This was originally found via other Paul.

Play nice boys and girls.

1)
Still so young to travel so far
Old enough to know who you are
Wise enough to carry the scars
Without any blame, there’s no one to blame

2)
But she just couldn’t stay
She had to break away
Well New York City really has it all
Oh yeah, oh yeah

3)
You want to feel a little warmth
A little mercy
You want to feel like this is real
But it’s so cold this time of year

4)
He was a boy
She was a girl
Can I make it any more obvious?

5)
My shadow’s the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart’s the only thing that’s beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
‘Til then I walk alone

6)
Let the rain come down and wash away my tears
Let it fill my soul and drown my fears
Let it shatter the walls for a new, new sun

7)
Here comes the future and you can’t run from it
If you’ve got a blacklist I want to be on it

8)
Ridin’ down the highway
Goin’ to a show
Stop in all the by-ways
Playin’ rock ‘n’ roll

9)
Well maybe I’m the faggot America
I’m not a part of a redneck agenda
Now everybody do the propaganda
And sing along in the age of paranoia

10)
You can’t take me anywhere
I’ll strip down to my underwear
If you give me half a chance

11)
Here’s your ticket pack your bag: time for jumpin’ overboard
Transportation is here
Close enough but not too far, maybe you know where you are
Fightin’ fire with fire

12)
Now the party´s over
I´m so tired
Then I see you coming
Out of nowhere
Much communication in a motion
Without conversation or a notion

13)
Dance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn

14)
I’m your only friend
I’m not your only friend
But I’m a little glowing friend
But really I’m not actually your friend
But I am

15)
Hey where did we go
Days when the rains came
Down in the hollow
Playin’ a new game

16)
In a noisy bar in Avalon
I tried to call you
But on a midnight watch I realised
Why twice you ran away

17)
O the year was 1778
How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now
A letter of marque came from the king
To the scummiest vessel I’ve ever seen

18)
I stopped by the bar at 3 a.m.
To seek solace in a bottle or possibly a friend
And I woke up with a headache like my head against a board
Twice as cloudy as I’d been the night before
And I went in seeking clarity

19)
Krista was a rover from Canada she hailed
We crossed swords in San Francisco we both lived to tell the tale

20)
I’m broke but I’m happy, I’m poor but I’m kind
I’m short but I’m healthy, yeah

    Oooh. I like this one.
    Is no 6 Hilary Duff?
and 16, “Avalon” by Roxy Music? (ooooh. Nostalgia moment)

  12. jen Says:

Procrasto - Number 6 is not Hillary Duff, but it is just as embarassing. Number 16 is not Avalon by Roxy Music, however number 12 is.

Now, what about number 19? I believe that has a connection to your homeland.

  13. Procrasto Says:

Oh wait. Number 6 is Celine Dion… oh Jen …for shame. A New Day?

Yeah. I missed 19. Although I always thought they were Irish… for some reason. The Waterboys - And a Bang on the Ear… woo hoo hooooooo!

Now - go do mine. I shamelessly copied you.

  14. Ginner Girl Says:

    *shudder*
#6 is “New Day” by Celine Dion.
    *BIGGER SHUDDER*
    I can’t believe I knew that……..

  15. jen Says:

I know, #6, I am blushing. I could be wrong, but I think maybe the Waterboys were a combined Irish-Scottish effort. I will go look it up. It is entirely possible that I am talking bollocks though.

  16. jen Says:

    Procrasto: here we go:

Mike Scott who formed the group is from Edinburgh in Scotland. Several Irishmen and one Irishwoman have been members at various times and the group was based in Dublin from 1986 to 1991. At other times the group has been based in London or New York. The Waterboys have had English, Welsh, American and other Scottish members too.

  17. Procrasto Says:

    Thank you.

It still doesn’t excuse the Celine Dion song on your playlist.

  18. Ginner Girl Says:

#18 is “Closer to Fine,” by the Indigo Girls. That one was KILLING ME, I hummed it all through lunch!!!

  19. Dr. Forbush Says:
