Bad, creepy, wrong
- Cadillac using Led Zeppelin’s Rock and Roll (or any Led Zeppelin for that matter) in its advertising.
- That ad for Propel Fitness Water. You know the one where little, tiny athletes pop out of drops of water.
From their FAQ: “How can I purchase Propel?”. I am going to take a wild stab in the dark here and say with money.
- Using peanut butter as a condiment on a chicken burger.

The first time I had peanut butter in a burger was at Grubb’s Burgers in Brighton, the best burger joint I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating at. It was a beefburger with peanut butter and pineapple. It was absolutely delicious.
Peanut butter on a chicken burger is almost as good.
Peanut butter and strawberry jam is a bad, creepy and wrong combination.

is not

Peanut Butter and Jam sandwiches eaten every day of my childhood made me into the strapping man you see before you.
Peanut sauce on chicken is wonderful thing. On a chicken burger just sounds odd. On a regular burger sounds intriguing.
Led Zeppelin music anytime is just wrong.
Propel is almost as dumb as “oxygen-infused” water. Water is two parts hydrogen, one part oxygen. Are they trying to tell us that they’ve somehow changed the molecular structure of H2O? Doesn’t it become some other gas at that point?

Let us not forget the peanut butter and bacon sandwich. Peanut butter and any jam is a classic; a cornerstone of any childhood.

OK… I am a fan of the Peanut Butter and Mayo sandwich. Eggy, peanut, refreshment…
and what’s with the Led Zepplin hating?
And what about that add, where atheletes crumble into pieces after not drinking Gatorade
or associated products. IT FREAKS ME OUT!
mmm. PB&Mayo…

Procastro: Just not huge a fan of the Zeppelin, which has caused many a heated argument among my friends in the old hometown. I just find the idea of a grown man, um, vocally simulating orgasm in the middle of a song really unappealing, bad, creepy, and wrong. Although I do like some of the acoustic stuff.

Procrasto - not sure if you are talking to me, John or both of us. My particular point about Cadillac and Led Zeppelin is that a Cadillac is an old man’s car. I guess they are trying to market their stupid old man car to a new generation. Led Zeppelin or not, it’s a still an old man car to me.

Do you know that each one made me increasingly agitated and incredulous. Now I’m all stirred up!

Peanut butter chicken? Sounds Thai to me.
As a student of music, I must say that on an intellectual level
Led Zeppelin is actually quite brilliant and original.
I’m sure some would bemoan that it is hard rock,
or all the references found within the music,
or the cult-like meanings the band has endured.
But remember that this music came out just as music
was being marketed (and mostly before).
So it was made popular by the people,
not by the industrial machine (as todays music is).

It could work - say on satay - which is just peanut butter with a bit of spice thrown in?
So what’s Shopaholic & Sister like? I’ve read the first two and enjoyed them both.
May 13th, 2005 at 6:57 am
Jen, isn’t Robert Plant something like 105 years old now? If Cadillac is an old man’s car, I think it’s a perfect fit.
May 13th, 2005 at 7:34 am
Peanut butter on hotdogs was a childhood favourite. PBJ is of course, classic. On a burger? I’m not sure I have the guts to try that one!
In my opinion, Cadillac is trying to appeal to the affluent 40 year old who wants both luxury and to still be as hip and cool as they were 20 years ago. I have given up on hip and cool.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one disturbed by that water commercial!
Jen, can I jump in - I read Shopoholic and Sister - if you liked the first set, you’ll like this one too.
May 13th, 2005 at 7:36 am
Fi- Satay is yummy, plain ol’ peanut butter is a bit icky..at least on chicken burgers.
Shopaholic and Sister is just as enjoyable as the others - a lovely, light, non-taxing read.
John - you of course, have a point.
May 13th, 2005 at 7:41 am
Cara - I think you are absolutely right about the Cadillac thing, I just think it’s wrong!
I am so incredibly uncool, I think it makes me cooler than cool
That propel commercial really is creepy.
I finished reading Shopaholic and Sister the other night, I couldn’t sleep so I read it pretty much straight through. Enjoyable as the others.

Yeah I was going to say that Led Zepplin are an old man’s car unto themselves.
They have old man smell about them…

I thought the Propel commercial was neat. I just can’t believe the shit they can do with computer these days. but peanut butter and chicken? now that IS nasty.
May 24th, 2005 at 3:37 pm
Using peanut butter as a condiment on a chicken burger
Okay…yeah nasty. I eat some weird stuff, A1 on anything, ketchup on anything, pickle and peanut butter sandwiches. But the above referenced combination of foods is enough to gag even me.
