New Zealand - Day 22
We headed off early today, ready for a long drive through the heart of the South Island to reach Christchurch by the end of the day. We saw plenty more amazing scenery along the way, mountains, rivers, plains, nice small towns, ugly small towns, but they all whipped by quickly and we found ourselves in Christchurch at about 4pm. We checked into the Copthorne hotel and went for a wander around the town, finished off with a meal at the Tandoor Palace Indian restaurant.New Zealand - Day 23
We got up nice and early and went for breakfast at the cathedral cafe, then wandered around the cathedral snapping a few photos. After that we decided to take the tram tour of the city, expensive for what it is, but still an enjoyable ride which gave us a feel for the city.
Christchurch feels like a little piece of England, even down to the punting on the river Avon, which we decided to partake in. I got to have a go at punting, and actually did quite well! From the punting place we walked around the botanical gardens, then around the new and very fancy art museum. A quick stop at the post office for some lotr stamps then it was back to the hotel for a rest before supper. We picked Sticky Fingers as our restaurant for the evening and enjoyed some of those funky NZ pizzas.
